The Campaign to End Iggun

Join the Campaign to End Iggun

A little more than ten years ago, a groundbreaking conference at NYU School of Law sparked a movement to address the crisis of iggun—a devastating form of marital captivity. Today, thanks to the courage and vision of our founders and an extraordinary team of rabbis, scholars, lawyers, and mental health professionals, we’ve freed hundreds of agunot and are transforming Jewish communities worldwide. Through sensible halachic solutions, educational programs, and empowered batei din, we’re proving that iggun is not an intractable problem but one that can—and will—be resolved.

This May 21st, we return to NYU to mark a decade of progress and launch the Campaign to End Iggun, a bold initiative to expand our impact and fundamentally reshape the landscape of Jewish divorce. With $2.5 million already pledged toward our $3.6  million goal, we’re poised to scale our efforts, educate communities, and ensure that women seeking divorce are met with support, not silence.

This is more than a campaign—it’s a historic opportunity to heal, empower, and restore agency to Jewish women. Join us at the conference, celebrate our achievements, and help us build a future where iggun is no longer a crisis but a rare and swiftly resolved challenge. Together, we can change Jewish history. Stand with us. Be part of the solution.

Both events will take place at the NYU School of Law
